Rockbridge Vineyard
DeChiel Pinot Noir - 2001

The cool summer of 2001 allowed us to harvest our small crop of Pinot Noir later than normal and I intentionally left the wine on the skins for an extra day for more Burgundian Character, different from my previous three vintages of DeChiel Pinot Noir.

The wine is 100% Estate bottled and pure Virginia Pinot Noir grown at 2000 feet elevation.

Production:

Bottled: July 2002
Quantity: 273 cases

Tasting notes:

Strawberry and Cherry with a hint of oak spiciness on both nose and palate typify this wine. The austere palate, reminiscent of Burgundian Pinot Noir complements food well. One of our favorite food pairing's is grilled eggplant, marinated in olive oil, rosemary and garlic. This wine is good with roast turkey, pork or even salmon.
