Cyrus McCormick Farms

This 634-acre farm was where Cyrus McCormick demonstrated the first
successful mechanical reaper. The reaper, which harvested grain five times
faster with much less effort than a man with a scythe or sicke was a
revolution in agriculture. The farm is now a research station operated by
Virginia Tech, and features a restored blacksmith shop, gristmill and
museum.
